1. TOUR OVERVIEW
South America's iconic trekking expedition. Over 5 days, traverse original stone inca highways, ascending the famous Dead Woman's Pass / Warmiwañusqa (4,215 m), passing through Inca rock tunnels and ancient ruins including Patallapta, Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarka, and Wiñay Wayna. Includes premium camping gear, backcountry executive chef, porters, and 1 final hotel night in Aguas Calientes before the guided Machu Picchu tour.
2. DAY BY DAY ITINERARY
Cusco – Km 82 to Wayllabamba
Wayllabamba to Pacaymayo
Clim through cloud forest to Llulluchapampa (3,800 m). Challenge Dead Woman’s Pass / Warmiwañusqa (4,215 m), the highest point of the trek. 2-hour descent to Pacaymayo campsite (3,600 m). (12 km | 6-7 hours).
Pacaymayo to Phuyupatamarka
Ascend stone trails to visit Runkurakay ruins and pass (3,950 m). Explore Sayacmarca and lunch at Chaquicocha. Traverse an Inca rock tunnel to Phuyupatamarka campsite (3,680 m) with views of Mount Salkantay. (11 km | 6-7 hours).
Phuyupatamarka – Wiñay Wayna to Machu Picchu & Aguas Calientes
Sunrise at Phuyupatamarka and stone-staircase descent to Wiñay Wayna (2,650 m). Hike to Inti Punku (Sun Gate) for panoramic views of Machu Picchu Citadel. Bus descent to Aguas Calientes for hotel overnight. (9 km | 6-7 hours). (Casa Andina, El Mapi, or similar).
Morning Citadel Tour & Return to Cusco
Morning shuttle bus to Machu Picchu. 2-hour guided tour detailing Inca history and engineering. Buffet lunch at Tinkuy Restaurant. Return train to Ollantaytambo and private ground transfer to Cusco.
